Donald E. Gunlock, 84, of Winston-Salem, N.C., former of Chillicothe, died 11:05 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2012 in Arbor Acres United Methodist Home in Winston-Salem.

He was born August 23, 1927, in Ross County, to the late Roy and Ethel Bower Gunlock. On August 26, 1950, he married the former Patricia A. King, who survives, of Winston-Salem.

Also surviving are children, Diane D. (Dr. Rolland) Barrett, of Winston-Salem, NC, Debra S. (Robert) Simmons, of Fairfield, OH, Michael R. (Saundra) Gunlock, of Cincinnati, OH and Kimberly J. Walter, of Trumbull, CT; 7 grandchildren; brothers, William (Sandy) Gunlock, of Dayton, OH and David (Saundra) Gunlock, of Chillicothe, OH; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Gunlock.

Don served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He retired from General Motors where he worked as a project engineer, in Warren, MI and also spent 3 years for General Motors in England. He attended Brookside Church.

A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012, in Grandview Cemetery with Rev. David Dean officiating. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.

In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions be made to Alzheimers Association, Central Ohio Chapter, 1379 Dublin Rd., Columbus, OH 43215 or Arbor Acres United Methodist Home, 1240 Arbor Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27104
