Gene Oliver, 83, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord at 12:05 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024 in the Adena Regional Medical Center.
He was born November 21, 1940, in Chillicothe, to the late James A. and Ada M. Ellifritt Oliver. On December 31, 1959, he married the love of his life, the former Dianna Sue “Sweetie” Phillips, whose first day in Heaven was March 11, 2022. Our family rejoices that they are together again.
Surviving are children, Tammy (Drew) Aquino, Sheri (Joe Sharp) Oliver, Kris Oliver, and Corrie (Johnnie) Johnson; grandchildren, Phillip (Marcy) Aquino, Jarrel (Leslie) Aquino, Casey (Erica) Oliver, Michael (Amanda) Aquino, Britney (Zack) Duclos, Eden (Caleb) Smith, Avery Johnson; 14 great grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Pat) Oliver and James Oliver; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by sisters, Ada Violet and Elaine.
Gene was a graduate of Southeastern High School. He was known by everyone as the Little Debbie Man for 52 years. Gene was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he taught the Disciples Sunday School Class for over 60 years. He was a longtime member of the Chillicothe Evening Lions Club and was an avid antique car collector. His most prized car in his antique collection was a 1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser. His life was an example to everyone who knew him.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2024 in Tabernacle Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12 to 3 p.m. prior to his funeral service on Tuesday. Also, a Lions service will be held at 2:50 p.m. prior to the start of the funeral service.
