Kenneth J. Self, 69, passed from this life on Friday morning, April 12, 2024 at his residence in his sleep. He was born November 3, 1954, in Chillicothe, the son of Kenneth and Geraldine Self. In 2005, he married his best friend, Brenda Martin.
Kenneth is survived by his mother, Geraldine Seymour, of Frankfort, OH; two sisters, Cindy (Roma) Self, of Chillicothe, OH and Marian (Dirck) Everhart, of Frankfort, OH; a brother, Charles and Tonya Seymour, of Vinton County; four children, Gary Steven Martin (Tammy), of Chillicothe, OH, Christy Luman (Jim), of Hillsboro, OH, Sara Evans, of Urbana, OH and Melissa Numberger (Thad), of Chillicothe, OH. Kenneth was a grandfather to eight and great grandfather to ten. Kenneth was preceded in death, by his wife, Brenda Self (Martin) in 2020; his mother-in-law, Genive Vickers; and father, Kenneth Self; father-in-law, Thamer Vickers and Don Seymour; and stepbrother, Donnie Seymour.
Kenneth was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed. He was a devoted Christian and an active member of the First Capital Christian Church. Over the years, Kenneth served by preaching, teaching the youth, and working in many various outreach projects, such as Holiday Smiles and feeding those in need. Kenneth was an ordained minister and a notary public. Kenneth loved helping whenever and wherever he could. Even in his youth his love and wellbeing of others was shown, as he proudly served in the Junior Deputies, during High School.
In keeping with his wishes, funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2024 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Jason Lowery officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort, Ohio. Viewing for family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Tuesday.
Following the services, a family gathering will be provided at the First Capital Christian Church 900 Orange Street Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.
